Obituary

James Henry Conley Jr., 70, of New Britain, CT, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, January 4, 2019. Known to friends as Jim, he was born in 1948 to James Conley Sr., and Irene Gribben Conley as one of their six children. Jim served in the US Navy aboard the USS Enterprise in Alameda, CA and after an honorable discharge, became a member of the Labor’s Union for over 15 years where he was able to put his learned skills to use. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed golfing, reading, and the Red Sox, as well as anything involving US and world history. Jim is survived by his daughters, Alida Conley of Hamden, CT, and Samantha Anderson and her husband John of Wallingford, CT. In addition, he is survived by his sisters Kathy (Conley) Palys and husband Ed of Meriden, CT and Sindee (Conley) DiBenedetto and husband Michael of Apollo Beach, FL as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

My sincerest condolences on your loss. I knew Jim through work. I worked with him on a couple of different projects for different companies. Initially, I was under the impression that Jim was not the type of person that let people get too close to him. I realized that I was mistaken and that Jim was a warm and gentle man who was just trying his best to get along in a crazy world.. Just like all of us do. I have not seen very much of Jim since he retired from the Laborers Union. What I will remember most about Jim was the way he would light up whenever we would talk about the Sox. I was saddened to hear that he has left us but felt a little relief that he went peacefully while sleeping. May you all be surrounded by God, Family, and Friends in your time of sorrow and grief.
