Irene D. Dasenbrock, 93, of New Britain, CT passed away peacefully Monday, November 11, 2019. Irene is survived by her son, David Dasenbrock and his wife Debra of Franklin, TN, her brother, Dennis Bartnik and his wife Leona of Farmington, CT, as well as five nieces and a nephew. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Dasenbrock, her mother and step-father, Mary and Frank Bartnik, her father, Peter Dobusz and step-sister, Ann Wrobel. Irene enjoyed life to the fullest. As a young girl, “Iroosha” played jacks and roller skated along Horace and Broad Streets. As a young woman, “Dobey” was a stand-out athlete; playing basketball for Fafnir’s renowned “Pajama Girls” championship team. She was also a bowler and pitched for Fafnir’s softball team. As an adult, “Miss Irene” was the “Hostess with the Most-est” at the Hawthorne Inn during its heyday and later, at the Parkview Hilton’s Terrace on the Park restaurant. In her leisure time, you could often find Irene golfing at Stanley or at Saybrook’s Fenwick golf course. In her later years, “Pani Irene” was the matriarch of Francis St; always ready with a word of friendly advice to her neighbors. But the way Irene enjoyed to be addressed the most was as “Mom”, “Mother-in-Law” or “Auntie Irene” and for those of us who addressed her that way, she made an indelible impression and will be remembered with great love.
