In a breath of air

For Billy Weber

And after everything,
One last breath,
A singular good-bye
And only one
Like you,

I remember your smile,
Always full of true happiness,
No matter what color or flavor,
Looking for your story,
Looking to your beginning.

I know your spirit
Will dissipate in the air
Over the waters,
And I will always hear
The sound of music and joy
Playing with friends.
With eyes and a heart full of life,
Full of the colors and strength of the seas.
The friendship will stay
In my happy memories,
Your happiness
My good-bye.

To say that our neighborhood is devastated by this would be a huge understatement. Many of us have known Bill for years. He lived his life the way he wanted to but he was not selfish. He was so kind, so helpful, and so friendly. He sent me texts on holidays which I always looked forward to. He sent us pictures of his fishing escapades which we always enjoyed hearing about. He helped with hurt wildlife in our yard. He came over and chain sawed all the broken branches in our yard after that freak October snow storm. He did a spectacular job with all the floors in my house (what a skill he had!) And the list goes on and on reflecting his kindness and helping spirit. One of the funniest stories with Bill was the one summer day I pulled into my driveway, windows down, singing a song on the radio at the top of my lungs. I didn't realize anyone was there until I heard Bill say "You go Sue." We had such a good laugh over that. I have to say, life simply won't be the same without seeing him in his yard with his signature hat on. It's still so hard to process that. Thank you Bill for being a wonderful neighbor and more importantly, a wonderful friend. You will be missed, so very, very missed.

Dear Arlene, family & friends, We said good-bye to Billy on July , 2019 in Oak Bluffs, not realizing it was our last goodbye. Bill was always so respectful; always greeted me as mom with a big hug. Sometimes he would bring us fresh fish or just stop to visit. We would laugh about his antics as a kid. He would ride his bike from dawn to our adult bedtime and would be back at it the next dawn, never tired. We can learn a good lesson from Bill during these turbulent times. We see how many people loved Billy and how many hearts he touched. In his name let us extend our love to all people and pray for all to be in peace. In Sympathy & Love, Terri & Jack Stavola

Sincerely, Rita and Helen- Vineyard friends
