Lucía Montañéz Torres passed away peacefully June 2, 2020 at The Hospital of Central CT @ New Britain General. Lucia was born and raised in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico and was the daughter of the late Isabel Montañéz-Montes and Carmen Oquendo. She lived many years in Newburgh, NY before moving to New Britain, CT in 1980. Lucía worked and retired from South Church. Lucía was loved by many, she was known for her loving heart, Lucia was kind, generous and thoughtful, her home was open to anyone that needed a safe haven, she always welcomed you with open arms. Lucia had a green thumb and was an avid gardener, she loved her many plants.

Lucia is survived by her three stepsons; Luis (Lucretia), Anibal (Nydia), and Carlos (Dolly) her children; Jose Antonio, Carmen, Evelyn, Elisia, Noreen, Roseann, Alan, Marco, Suzannah, and John S., her grandkids; Analucy, Tania, Angel, Kevin, Meriel, Karrin, Justin, Demi, Jordan, Frank, Jason, Deanna, Brandon, Christopher, Anthony, Johnathan, Joshua, Midalia, and Obdulio. Her great grandkids; Natasha, Yesenia, Priscilla, David, Aubrianna, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Shane, Julissa, Alyssa, Amari, Austin, Aiden, Alanna, Noah, Zachary and Abel and dozens of nieces and nephews. Lucia was predeceased Isabel Montañéz-Montes and Carmen Oquendo her husband Natividad Torres, brothers Santo and Natividad Montañéz and stepson José E. Torres. She is survived by her siblings Pedro, Simon, Thomas, Josephine, Francisca, Carmen, Jesus, Jose, Isabel, Rosita.
A graveside service will be held Monday, June 8, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A.
