Obituary

Caroline I. Domkowski, 92, of New Britain, CT, peacefully left this earth on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, to forever join her beloved husband of 64 years, "Lou". Born in Merano, Italy, Caroline was the daughter of the late Hermann and Maria (Mattedi) Kantioler. She and her family eventually moved to Salzburg, Austria, and survived WWII. Caroline met the love of her life, Lucian, while he was serving in the US Army stationed in Europe. They married in Salzburg, Austria, had three children born in different countries and lived the life of a military family. Caroline was very proud and supportive of her husband's twenty-one year Army career. A hard worker most of her life, she retired after twenty-nine years of employment with Corbin-Russwin, Emhart Hardware. Skilled with a crochet hook and knitting needles, Caroline crafted afghans, accessories and baby outfits for family, friends and people in need. She spoke English, Italian and German, fluently, and could swear in many languages. Music, opera and casinos were some of the things she loved. Most of all, she loved her family, deeply and fiercely and adored her grandchildren, Ali, Jordan and Leolani, beyond words. Often described as feisty, smart, generous, strong, sweet, "a character", she will be greatly missed.

Caroline leaves behind her son, Fred Domont (Rosalie), of Edgartown, MA, daughter, Sherry Rouleau (Jeff Kottke) of East Hampton, CT, daughter, Susan Kaeka (Daniel), of West Tisbury, MA and her loving sister, Hermie Wolf of Salzburg, Austria, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration to honor Caroline's life will be held privately in the future. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. The Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT has charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to any Veterans charity.
