Pearline Garner, 92, a long time resident of New Britain, CT., passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. Pearline was born in Evergreen Alabama on January 16, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Dillard Nared and Sindy Wright. She met Nathaniel Garner and the two were married in 1963, and remained married until his death in 2011. During their time in Connecticut raising their family, Pearline worked for many years at Stanley Works in New Britain and later at Napco in Berlin until she retired. She was a faithful member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church, joining in 1977, after several years as a member of St. James Baptist Church. Pearline enjoyed fishing, traveling with Nathaniel to North Carolina with the church, and to Florida each summer until health challenges made it too difficult. She loved to attend gospel quartet concerts and was a really big Willie Neal Johnson and the Gospel Keynotes fan. Pearline greatly enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, serving her Sunday dinners for many years. She was known for her desserts like her sweet potato pies and her delicious pound cakes.
