Obituary for Pastor Simmons
Rev. Walter Simmons, 94, of New Britain, CT passed away peacefully at home on Wed., March 23, 2022, surrounded by his family. Walter was born on August 13, 1927 in Marion, South Carolina to the late Wiillie and Lillie Backus Simmons.
Rev. Simmons joined the United States Air Force in 1946. He served honorably from 1946-1967; retiring as Staff Sargent. After 29 years of employment at A&P Supermarket, Rev. Simmons retired and worked full-time in his work for the Lord!
Rev. Walter Simmons was the Pastor and Founder of the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in New Britain, CT since 1977.
Lovingly known as "Pastor", Rev. Simmons leaves to mourn: a devoted wife, co-pastor and evangelist, Priscilla Simmons, 4 sons; 6 daughters; 33 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and spiritual sons and daughters.
Rev. Walter Simmons' Homegoing Celebration will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, 477 Ellis Street, New Britain, CT. Viewing hours will be from 11 am to 12 pm followed immediately by his service.
