Obituary for George L. Knight

March 14, 1950 – January 18, 2023
George L. Knight, 72 of Middletown, CT passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Hartford Hospital.

George was born in Oak City, North Carolina on March 14, 1950 to the late Luke A. and Leah (Ebron) Knight. He graduated from West Martin High School and attended the University of Hartford for Electrical Engineering. In addition, he took online classes at Florida Institute of Technology where he obtained an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts.

George met and married the love of his life Linda Kay White on December 19, 1992.
George worked for Otis Elevator for 27 years before he retiring as a supervisor in the OSC Electronics Shop. He also worked at Pratt & Whitney, EIS and Olin Ski in Middletown, CT.
George’s biblical studies in theology included learning at Aenon Bible College. Prior to becoming a minister, he served faithfully at Bethel Apostolic Church, in Middletown, CT. He served many different capacities such as van driver, usher, choir member, teacher, superintendent and 2nd Assistant Pastor. He became an ordained Minister in June 2003 through the Connecticut District Council of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. He was Director of the Evangelism Department and served on the Licensing and Credential committee as well as the 2nd Vice Chairman of the Connecticut District Council. In April 2010, following the leading, of God he established Divine Truth Apostolic Church in Cromwell CT. Subsequently, he was called to pastor the New Covenant Apostolic Church in Plainville, CT where he served as Pastor from 2016 to 2023.
In his younger years he enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing basketball. Later in life his activities included bowling with his nephew Jack Smith and playing golf with his brothers-in-law. Above all, he enjoyed reading, studying and teaching the Word of God.
George is survived by his wife, Linda K. Knight, daughter Renee Knight, stepchildren Damien White and Assan Boddie, grandchildren Tevin Knight and Tyra Perry, step-grandchildren Asialee White, Ajai and Amila Boddie, sister Delores A (Knight) Gross of Baltimore, Maryland and a host of nephews and nieces from North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Connecticut.

George is preceded in death by his parents Luke A. and Leah J. (Ebron) Knight, five brothers Willie James Knight, Luke Thomas Knight, Calvin Roosevelt Knight, Johnny Earl Knight and Kermit Lee Knight; four sisters Lucy Grey Hyman, Lottie Mae Smith, Louise Williams and Olivia Hunter.
